As part of Care Afrique Organization’s (CAO) major goals, is to secure necessary funds / supports / commitments, for CAO major Agricultural Project goal in Ghana, West Africa, and Africa. Factoring in future growth and consumption needs, honestly, not much need be said about global need to increase food and livestock production quality, accessibility, efficiency, affordability and sustainability.
Africa, West Africa and Ghana are no exceptions. In today’s world, where there is abundant knowledge, technology, growth & development, there is no reason why agricultural production, shouldn’t reach & surpass human consumption needs globally, more pronounced in Africa; where most people economically depend on farming; subsistence farming as is.
This is an urgent call indeed. Screaming Loud; since we cannot live without food, it will be disastrous and suicidal not to meet this challenge head on. Agricultural / Farming production must increase globally and in Africa. CAO Sustainable Solutions.
Advantages / Benefits of the Agricultural Project:
- End Food Shortage Crisis:
Hunger & starvation have no place in today’s world. Food shortages, high food prices, low nutrition, women and children dying of hunger and starvation, going on in Africa, for centuries all need to end. With current civilization, technology, development, knowledge, skills, innovation, etc… there is no reason why anyone should go hungry in the 21st century and beyond.
Donor money needs to be used much more sustain ably.
- Economic Factors:
The entire African & world economy suffers when able bodied men & women cannot work because they are starving
and have no energy. Productivity comes to a grinding halt. Just as we cannot negotiate with sleep; we cannot put of hunger and starvation. As our cars need fuel; so our bodies need food to function well. Food has to be abundant and affordable. Not to even mention nutritious. No known successful economy runs on the backs of starving, hungry people; and there will never be one. Economically, increasing agricultural production is needed to boost the economy for local consumption and export potentials. It already employs the most people in Africa anyway. Huge, necessary, sustainable industry.
- Educational Factors:
A hungry, starving student is the least interested in learning whatever the teacher is preaching. Concentration and focus is low or non-existent. You and I will not go read a book on an empty, starving, hungry belly. I probably will not even go to school at all; which sadly happens to be the case in many instances.
- Health Factors:
Even those of us eating are screaming; our health, healthcare, etc… How healthy can a hungry, starving person be? CAO, with our agricultural project seeks to directly be involved in farming; also support farmers to increase productivity in areas of information dissemination, technical support, education, small scale financing and cooperatives.
- Empowerment Reasons:
Truly as part of our empowerment efforts, we cannot simply claim to bring about empowerment to African people, when we cannot even locally increase food production. This is an innovation that was created by man for mankind; we simply cannot live without food. We think of it as a basic human right for all. Assuredly an empowerment tool as well. Food cannot and should not be used as a bargaining chip. A satisfied person is evidently empowering on its own.
- Increase Productivity:
All great nations today, are where they are today by making sure that their infrastructure was in place for growth and development. This is also why they are so productive and successful.
Food security, abundance, affordability, etc… simply makes it possible for people, businesses, students, governments, industries, to really work around the clock. There by increasing productivity. Increase food production is a necessity.
- Foster Growth & Development:
Abundant, reliable, dependable, food supply, clearly also allows for growth & development. Businesses, industry, investments, money, flock to China, USA, Europe, etc… because they know that they will be adequately fed on a minimum wage salary at worst. CAO simply means this is a no brainier.
- Create Opportunity:
The arrival of abundant, reliable, consistent increasing food supply, will bring along diverse opportunity for countless many in and off by itself. People will simply start to feel and realize more opportunity day or night. Different choices of food, various innovative ideas of what food and how food can be prepared start to emerge, (Dreams) etc… Better nutritional value and benefits begin to be discovered. Who knows might even foster more diversity. All while improving standards.
- Create Employment:
Agriculture / farming, is a labor intensive industry for the most part, and will bring about new jobs in various disciplines, specialties and levels, even including unskilled labor. Continuous, reliable, dependable, permanent employment for all! The agricultural project, will also signal to industry, business, growth and development a climate of welcome, and will bring in more investor $$$ to the various countries and thereby help create more jobs for countless in various food production, delivery and service sectors.
- Deliver Future Hope:
Accompanying this agricultural project, hope for the future to the indigenous that have lived with the norm of less or no food for the most part. Now we will start to believe that we can do it. Hope will be reborn in the minds and hearts of indigenous people for what’s to come in the future for generations; On a full belly, now indigenous can perhaps dream well too.
Who Will It Benefit?
Directly, it will benefit all 28 million people in Ghana; more millions in West Africa, and indirectly the entire continent, and world in many measurable and immeasurable ways clearly & sustain ably.
Necessary – feasibility, geological, statistical, environmental survey. After which we believe ICC – International Construction Consortium, Bechtel-USA, Vinci-FR, Parsons Brinkerhoff-SA, and others, can most accurately estimate costs and duration to sustainability etc…, since they are the consortiums that will be capable of building such a huge project.
We at CAO roughly estimate it to costs in the upwards of a $2 Billion to complete all phases to full operation standard capacity & sustainability.
